Medical acne treatments have potential side effects. Topical treatments can cause irritation and peeling. Oral antibiotics often cause sensitivity to sunlight. Isotretinoin causes extreme dryness of the skin and lips, as well as photosensitivity and even nosebleeds.

Mild acne (a few blackheads and small spots affecting less than 50% of the face)
